Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) FAQ
-
What Is AFF?
AFF is a program developed by USPA to teach people how to skydive. This program consists of 7 instructor assisted lessons and jumps. You are on your way to achieving your first skydiving license!
-
What are your responsibilities during AFF?
AFF is very different from a tandem skydive. You are responsible for following instructions, completing maneuvers in freefall, deploying your parachute and steering it to the ground. AFF is time and energy intensive.
-
What is after AFF?
Anything you want! After you complete and pass the AFF course, you can petition the USPA for your A License which allows you to jump at most skydive facilities around the world. After gaining experience, you can start exploring the different skydiving specialties like wing-suiting and dynamic canopy flight.
-
How many jumps do you need to get your first skydiving license?
After completing the first 7 AFF jumps, you will then complete approximately 20 jumps as a ‘solo student’ where you practice the skills taught during AFF. Then, you will complete 5 coach jumps teaching you how to safely jump with others. This should get you to the 25 jump minimum required to petition for your first skydiving license.
